Business Support & Advice for Window and Home Improvement Sectors

If you’ve reached this page, you're probably looking for some kind of Business Support & Advice. You could be running a successful business and wanting to build on that success; or you could be facing some challenges that are undermining your business’s performance and progress. As a business consultant, my job is to help you achieve whatever goals and objectives you may have.

The Type of Businesses I support

With my experience and background (click here for further details), I work with most types of businsses within the window, conservatory, roofline, kitchen and bathroom sectors. These include: -

  • Systems Companies/Extruders
  • Fabricators/Manufacturers
  • Retailers
  • Direct Sales Businesses
  • Distributors

The Services I Provide

Different clients need different types of Business Support & Advice, delivered in different ways. So I don’t have a “one size fits all” approach. I can be anything from a sounding board to bounce your ideas off, to taking a hands-on role, helping to implement a change programme. The types of projects, with which I can provide support, could include any combination of those shown below.

Business Strategy

You may be working on an entirely new business strategy or developing an existing one. Either way, getting it right is of paramount importance. I can provide you with a wealth of industry experience that will help you achieve your goals and objectives.

Sales & Marketing

This is the great unknown in most businesses. The market can turn - up or down - and the impact on the business can be huge. Sales and marketing is a complex relationship between external market factors and the ability of the business to respond to and exploit those factors cost effectively. It's now much more of a science than it used to be; it’s much more process driven; and it's increasingly web based. Having studied these changes in depth, I believe that I am uniquely qualified to help my clients develop sales and marketing strategies that are right for this market in the second decade of the 21st century.

Operational Excellence

Whether its production, logistics, accounts & administration, processes, systems and IT, it's essetial that your business functions efficiently and cost effectively. Get all of this right and your margins will increase, your fixed costs will be optimised, staff morale will be higher and your reputation, amongst your customers, will grow. Get it wrong and the opposite will happen. I've experienced many different approaches; and I've a very good understanding of what works and what doesn't. Furthermore, I've lots of experience of the type of change programmes that are needed to get your business to where it needs to be.

Organisation Structure

Getting your organisation structure right can be a challenge. It needs to take account of the strategic direction of the business, operational requirements, service levels and cost. It's a tricky balancing act. I've seen many different approaches; some good and some not so good. The liklihood is that I'll get you to where you need to be far quicker than it will take you through trial and error.

Management & Leadership

Management and Leadership must go hand in hand. They are not the same thing. But they are necessarily linked, and complementary. A business can have great strategies, fantastic products and many of the right skills but without first class management and leadership, it will rarely achieve the level of success that it could and should. Having had many years as a CEO/MD, I have lots of experience, not just of how to manage and lead, but of how not to. That experience is available to my clients.

Business Turnaround

Sometimes, businesses find themselves making losses and in decline. Without remedial action, the outlook can then be grim. I have a considerable amount of turnaround experience, which can help those of my clients facing this type of challenge. Sometimes the solutions can be quite tough and require considerable resolve. And having someone like me, with this type of experience can be the difference between survival or not.

Business Restructuring

Businesses may need restructuring for many different reasons; growth, downsizing, mergers & acquisitions, diversification, outsourcing strategies and technological developments are just some. Change management is at the heart of what I've been doing for over thirty years; and I'm always pleased to help clients through these challenging periods.
